Studio Six is a small but very successful dance school which has been established in Folkestone since 1980. It is now run by Laura Gibson and Roxy Mellish-Wilson who are very well known in the area for their excellence in dance, choreography and performance backgrounds. Together they are proud of the family orientated dance school they have created at Studio Six, which is run with an emphasis on always having fun whilst performing. Studio Six is registered with the British Theatre Dance Association examination board and all of our teachers are fully qualified with them underwritten by GQUAL. We take students from 3 years old to Adult, please contact our teachers for suggested suitable classes for you or your child.
At Studio Six we follow the BTDA exam structure – students usually complete exams in this order but may start at a level agreed by the subject teacher.
Ballet/Tap/Modern Jazz – SILVER ROSE, GOLD ROSE, PREP, PRIMARY, INTRO TO GRADE 1, GRADE 1, GRADE 2, GRADE 3, GRADE 4, GRADE 5, INTERMEDIATE.
Jazz/Singing Medals from September 2017 – BRONZE, SILVER, GOLD, SILVER SHIELD, GOLD SHIELD, 1ST STATUETTE (2 dances), 2ND STATUETTE (3 dances), PERFORMANCE CUP (4 dances).
Teachers will advise the appropriate level for the individual student.
Students may join Pointe Ballet class when they are aged 11+ or in grade 3 Ballet and above where they will learn exercises preparing them for Intermediate exam as well as the opportunity to perform pointe work in our annual show.
